Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course introduces students to the historical and contemporary role of religious minorities in Austria and Lebanon which serve as examples for European and Middle Eastern societies characterized by religious diversity. The political status and role of Protestant Christians, Jews and Muslims in Austria will be described as well as the political status and the role of Christians, Jews, Bahai in Lebanon and Egypt. It points out that minorities in countries with a Christian majority face similiar problems as minorities in countries with an Islamic majority.
