In der Woche vom 27.-31.01.2025 werden bei Bedarf mündliche Prüfungen angeboten (s Minimalanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab). Die Studierenden können sich nicht auswählen, ob sie schriftlich oder mündlich zu den Tests / Prüfungen antreten. Eventuelle mündliche Prüfungen stellen ausnahmslos eine Möglichkeit dar, doch ein positives Gesamtergebnis am Ende des Semesters zu erzielen.

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Participation in both written tests (open book exams). Physical presence is required, because no online exams will be offered.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Students must have a basic knowledge of private international law (conflict of laws rules), public international law and family law and be able to communicate well in English in order to intellectually grasp the content of the legal sources (drafted or translated) in(to) English. Preparation for each unit is essential (reading the legal sources and the case law).Absence (limited to health reasons) in no more than 2 course units (medical confirmation required) will be accepted. Participation in both written tests is mandatory. Each test accounts for 10 points. The points of both tests are added together. A positive grade is achieved with a total of 12/20 points (in detail: very good (1) with 19-20 points; good (2) with 17-18 points; satisfactory (3) with 14-16 points; sufficient (4) with 12-13 points).Two written tests (open book exam). No laptop, tablet, mobile / iphone.
The understanding of the content of the legal sources and the impact of the case law are examined. Students must be able to solve caes and to answer multiple choice questions.Students who have not taken BOTH written tests (medical confirmation of illness required), and students who have not achieved the minimum number of points overall (12/20), will be examined orally in the week of 18-21 June (details will be announced later).

Specific books or articles are not available on the market. All issues will be discussed in class. Together with the required basic knowledge of conflict of laws, international law and family law, good preparation for each unit and logical thinking interdisciplinary thinking is trained.
