Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course continues and extends the concept covered in Experimental Methods I. Students will create their own experiment. In order to do that, we briefly discuss basics of programming in Python, HTML and CSS, as well as a software tool (oTree) and basic statistical methods. Students will present their research ideas, develop a research plan and conduct their experiment. Then they will present the (preliminary) findings.

Please refer to www.strategy.univie.ac.at for general information on our courses.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

20% - Home Assignments
10% - (Poster) Presentation of Research Design
30% - Presentation Findings

Please note that TURNITIN will be used in order to test all written coursework (e.g. seminar papers) for possible plagiarism.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Please note that attendance during the first session is absolutely mandatory.

Missing the first session without prior written notice to the lecturer (at least 24 hours before the start of the session) providing a relevant reason/proof (e.g. doctor’s notice in case of illness) will result in deregistration from the course. In such cases the missing student’s place will be given to the person next in line on the waiting list (if this person is present in the first session).

In general, students are allowed to miss up to 10% (2.5 hours) of scheduled classes without any consequences. Exceeding this limit, however, will result in failing the class.

1. Getting a research idea
2. Learning how to use software to create/code an experiment
3. Development and execution of a research plan
4. Analysis of research results
5. Presentation of results

The grading scheme will look as follows:
