Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course aims to have students learn to communicate the contents of their MA to a broad audience, provide constructive feedback on other people's work, and gain useful input to make progress with their research. The course is only for MA Econ students who have started to work on their MA thesis. Each student must present twice. The first presentation (10 min.) describes the main ideas and related literature of the MA thesis. The second presentation (15 - 20 min.) shows the results and added value and puts these in light of the literature.Prior to the second presentation the advisor of the Masters’ thesis has to approve in writing to the instructor that at least 60% of the thesis has been completed. Having completed 60% of the thesis means that a central result has been obtained, that the detailed outline of the thesis is ready, and that the related literature has been summarized. After each presentation each member of the audience has to be ready to give immediate feedback orally. Good feedback has two parts, praise and critique, and is based on the knowledge acquired in the MA Econ.
