All presentation assignments have to follow scientific rules. The slides must be turned in a day before the presentation (via e-mail: doc-file, ppt-file, pdf-file; in class: printed version). The printed version of the slides is part of the final grade.Presentations
• Each presentation should last up to 40 minutes (homework 1, 2, and 3).
• There should be a short discussion with the auditorium after the presentation.
• The use of the beamer is expected (legible slides).
• The quality of the presentation is part of the final grade.Attention, all possibly outstanding achievements in the WS are to be provided up to and including 31 December.

Please open this website to obtain further information regarding in which Bachelor study plans this course can be selected (e.g., Business Administration, International Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Business Informatics).This course focuses on the economic assessment of public and non-profit companies/institutions by using benchmarking as an instrument for strategic planning and control.The main part of the course consists of benchmarking Decision Making Units (DMUs) such as public institutions, associations, and hospitals. An introduction on benchmarking approaches is provided with a special focus on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Different efficiency concepts are illustrated on several examples.Each student group selects a particular economic sector (e.g., education, environment/energy, health, disaster management, recreation) to benchmark DMUs. First, each student group reports on a selected topic of pitfalls and protocols in DEA (homework 1). Second, each student group discusses and presents particularities of the selected economic sector and the related DMUs (homework 2). Third, each student group investigates a selected research paper from the literature of the selected economic sector (e.g., education, environment/energy, health, disaster, recreation).
