Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This module applies simulation methodology to problems of manufacturing and service operations management. Different designs of flow-shop and job-shop organization as well as service systems are analyzed. Simulations of simple queues are extended to queuing networks which are able to capture aspects of more complex manufacturing and service systems. Simulation methodology is applied to planning and scheduling problems. Different priority rules as well as push and pull oriented production concepts are evaluated.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Weekly home assignments (30%), term project (40%), final test (30%)

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The module enables the participants to model real world manufacturing and service systems and to evaluate the performance of different designs. One further objective is to understand the impact of variability on operations performance from a process management perspective.

Prüfungsstoff

The course includes short lectures where the planning and scheduling concepts are introduced. The main part will be to work on exercises and cases to implement and analyze typical production management problems using the software Anylogic. Further information: www.xjtec.com. Therefore, participation in the course Simulation I is required.

Literatur

A reading list will be distributed after the start of the course.
