Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course is intended to equip students with a basic understanding of the entrepreneurial process and respective managerial challenges. It analyzes the environments of entrepreneurship from types of opportunities, to how decisions are made depending on the opportunities pursued. We will focus on the unique challenges involved in founding and managing entrepreneurial ventures, regardless of whether these are start-ups, small early stage entrepreneurial firms, or larger well-established companies. Moreover, we address the analytical and administrative domains of entrepreneurial and managerial behaviour. This should provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of entrepreneurship for students involved in managing innovations and/or new technologies or planning to run an entrepreneurial venture at some point in their careers. The course comprises theoretical insights into the entrepreneurial issues at hand and combines these with practical applications. Hence, case studies will complement the course work and students will work in groups on assignments that involve real-life case applications. Lastly, a simulation concerning innovation and corporate entrepreneurship will help students to get a real-life feeling for decision making under uncertainty that they might encounter in their later career.
