You will be expected to
• develop a small research project in the course of this term, for which you will write two smaller and one longer assignment
• read short texts or watch videos which will be posted on moodle in preparation for each class, prepare small tasks like note-taking
• participate in in-class discussions
Presence and participation in the online meetings are mandatory. You can have two absences. Please make sure you bring yourselves up to date on tasks and readings and visit moodle regularly for that purpose.

Four out of these five tasks have to be positive (51%). The overall pass grade is 60%.

81-70 Befriedigend
71-60 Genügend
59-0 Nicht Genügend

There is no sit-down exam but a number of tasks that are supposed to demonstrate your understanding of the theories and methods covered and the texts read and discussed.

At the end of this term, students will have learnt to
• reflect on the purposes of reading literature in the classroom
• rethink the role of the reader / learner in the EFL classroom
• learn to think carefully about data and research designs
• and become acquainted with quantitative and qualitative research methods and what they can tell us about readers, reading and the reading materials
