Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This lecture course is specifically designed for and tailored to a student audience that attends this class in the framework of the new Erweiterungscurriculum 'The World of English 1'. It provides students with a basic introduction to key concepts and terminology within the study of the English language from a linguistic perspective. Topics covered include: the history of English, the sounds of English, variation in the English language, English around the world, sign language, language and the mind, language attitudes, language policy.
