Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course is designed to help students who are writing their MA theses to develop a structured plan for their thesis projects. Participants will be able to present work in progress and receive feedback on the methods, materials, and approaches with which they are planning to work.

We will cover the following aspects of the thesis process:
- presentation, discussion and peer-feedback of MA theses in literary / cultural studies
- discussion and development of relevant concepts, approaches and methods for MEd thesis projects
- defining research questions, selecting sources, academic writing
- organizing the exam process (including registering your thesis, HOPLA, preparing the defense)

After the class, participants will have gained a clearer sense of the stage their thesis project is in, what there is left to do, the sources and resources that are available to them, their academic writing strategies and how to further develop them, and new concepts and methods they might apply to their project.
