Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course covers basic concepts related to language, language use and the background to and practice of language teaching and learning; lesson planning and use of resources for teaching English to adults; managing the teaching and learning process. Participants will also reflect on their own language learning and the processes of teaching a foreign language.In addition, the students will engage in peer review and self-evaluation of their own work, as well as meet with the instructor for feedback and guidance to master the fundamental tools of teaching EFL.This course consists of fourteen units, organized to ensure a gradual build-up of knowledge. The final component of the course is a lesson planning task.The course aims to provide a first introduction to the world of teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) to adults, as well as details of techniques and skills required by teachers of EFL in the classroom.Upon completing the course, the students will be able to:- know about the most important contemporary theories and methods as applied to teaching EFL and make use of them in devising their own teaching plans;- use strategies for evaluating and adapting materials for teaching EFL;- demonstrate awareness of skills and techniques required for successful language teaching.

Students are examined in the form of oral presentations, written assignment, and a lesson planning task.
