Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

How do we talk about literature? What is or is not allowed to be referred to as literature? Why are comics still so often no referred to as literature? What can comics do that set it apart from the classic novel?
How do comic narrate something to us?
What topics focused on and depicted in comics have made it easier for some critics and scholars to regard comics as literature?
Which comics have crashed the 'canon of literature' so far?

Consider these as some of our questions in this literature seminar.
We will be taking a closer look at what defines the medium of comics and what narrative tools it has at its disposal.
Our reading list will include original comics/graphic narratives as well as graphic narratives which have 'literary' antitypes.
