Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Using technology to facilitate language teaching and learning is not a new approach. In this course we will have a look at the main stages in the development oftechnology use in the language classroom andwill then concentrate onintegrative CALL (computer assisted language learning, 1990s to present). This is thesocioconstructive approach to language teaching and learning in which social interaction is seen as an essential factor tolearning: ICT is employed to provide current texts, videos and other media as input as well as tools so that learners can perform real-life tasks involvingthe target language. We willanalyse and evaluate materials available on the internet on the basis oftheory derived principlesand then design and reflect upon own tasks and sequences. It isevident that technology use in language teaching and learning is shaped a lot by the teachers' view on teaching and learning. Therefore we will in the end try toevaluate, on the basis of the materials reviewed, our discussions and the experience we have made, the chances andchallenges of technologically supported language teaching and learning.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Assessment will be based on continuous assessment(participation, home assignments),students' own projects, a visit of an English lesson at a school containing an obeservation task, and a final written assignment of about 1000 words .
