Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The aim of this PhD seminar is for students working in a variety of subject areas to discover the theories and methodologies of multimodality, and ways in which multimodal analysis can be realised. At the same time, we will be looking at the phenomenon of transmedia storytelling to discover by what means and to what effects the various media platforms direct the production of meaning. Students will be encouraged to explore in what ways multimodal approaches can contribute to their own PhD research projects and what the possible restrictions are. Apart from discussing the theory and some case studies, we will try to pool resources for an interdisciplinary analysis of multimodal texts.
