Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will focus on the Chinese history and society during the 20th century with a thematic structure. Themes of discussion include and are not limited to: modernization of the Chinese state, the revolution and evolution of the Chinese Communist Party, rural society in China, migration and urbanization, private life in China, and China in the age of globalization. THE COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The course requires a fair amount of prior knowledge of the Chinese 20th century history. Active participation in class activities is also required.
