To allow as many students as possible to participate regardless of their present location, this course will be taught 100% online. Physical presence will not be required.

Contents
This course provides insights into practical aspects of working in or with North Korea. To make the best out of this course, it is strongly recommended that you have already attended the course on “Politics, Economy and Society of North Korea” or otherwise acquired basic knowledge.
The course consists of interviews with individuals who have been working with North Korea in various capacities. These include a former student at Kim Il Sung University who was arrested and expelled, the representative of a German foundation supporting reforestation, a former CIA officer and State Department official, a former World Bank employee, the founder of a News Network, the founder of an NGO for capacity building, a former member of the European Parliament, members of NGOs providing food assistance, a medical doctor supporting the health system, the head of a travel agency, a filmmaker, an advisor to the South Korean president, and a lecturer at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology.
After having attended the course, students understand the practical challenges and opportunities of working in and with North Korea in various fields. They have learned about possible fields of engagement and are able to put these cases into a larger politico-economic context.
