You know about similarities and differences between monolingual and bilingual first language acquisition.
You have critically reflected myths and stereotypes concerning bilingualism.
You know major findings about bilingualism in an individual speaker.
You have a chance to do your own little study.

Prüfungsstoff
This course will be taught as a flipped classroom, which means I will make (lots of!) literature and material available, you prepare sessions by thoroughly reading the assinged literature and sometimes working on little tasks from session to session. During our sessions we will discuss the solutions and/or problems that occured. The sessions will be organized in an interactive way including short presentations from the participants and group work.

In this class we will have a closer look at these myths and stereotypes, compare bilingual first language acquisition to monolingual acquisition, and discover similarities and differences. We will address questions such as: Who is bilingual? Is code-switching and mixing as sign of one fused language system? How are languages represented in the bilingual mind?
