The following deliverables are requirements for final grading:
- Designing an a experiment with 1-3 other students and group presentation at the last two – three sessions of the course (final grade: 30% individual performance, 20% group performance, 10% quality of the slides)
Grades: >93% 1, >81% 2, >71% 3, >61% 4, <61% 5.-Based on the feedback of the audience the experiment has to be revised and a written experimental plan has to be submitted by end of December (submitted via email to Sabine Tebbich)
(final grade: 35%)
- Active participation (questions, statements, summaries) in the discussion sessions and the discussion sessions after presentation of other students (final grade: 35%)

Learning outcome:
1) Being familiar with ethological and (comparative) psychological approaches to animal behaviour, as well as behavioural ecology and cognitive biology.
2) Basic knowledge of key concepts of evolutionary biology as the theoretical basis of the comparative approach to behaviour and cognition
3) The ability to understand and use core terminology of behavioral biology,
4) Being familiar with basic approaches and techniques to observe, measure, record, to manipulate, analyse and interpret animal behaviour in the field as well as under laboratory conditionsIn the course we will use a combination of mini lectures, practical exercises, discussion groups, reading of selected papers. At the end participants will design a behavioural experiment with 1-3 other students, present it to the group and submit an written experiment plan
