Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This seminar focuses on fieldwork and ethnographic methods. Different qualitative methods are introduced and discussed in class and acquired through practical exercises in and outside the classroom. The focus lies on participant observation, different interview methods, qualitative analysis and writing.

Active participation in the seminar is essential: students are expected to attend the seminar, to read the compulsory literature, to accomplish small written exercises at home and to actively engage in the seminar’s discussion. Moreover, students present their research findings to the other seminar participants and write a research report based on their research findings.
