Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
While western images of Siberia oscillate between a cold desert and a place of exile, human societies have developed a surprising array of cultural formations in the different ecological zones of Siberia. This course will put prime emphasis on students appropriating knowledge about Siberia through a critical reading of ethnographies. This will be achieved through a seminar format with some lecture elements. Russian language skills are not necessary but highly appreciated. Thus, the majority of readings will be in English and German.
