Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course "Definition, History, Justification and Dimensions of Human Rights" will give an in-depth introduction to human rights, their definition and delimitation, as well as their history and scope of application. Human rights will be classified and the various elements of their definition be addressed; the participants are invited to reflect on controversial issues, such as the duty bearers of human Rights and their potential "third party effect" on private persons. Furthermore, the question of how human rights can be thought to pre-date the state will be elaborated on. Participants will deepen their knowledge through lectures, presentations and group work as well as engage in discussion with their lecturers and peers.
