Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Each student is required to give one scientific talk using presentation slides, create and present one scientific poster, complete occasional short team exercises in class, provide active peer feedback and to critically discuss scientific feedback. The students are free to choose the software to create the slides and poster. In case COVID safety regulations force us to switch to distance learning we will continue the sessions on the given dates and times via Zoom on the Moodle platform.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Requirement for a positive grade: attendance (at most three sessions can be missed with prior explanatory statement), substitute achievements by agreement, giving one scientific talk using presentation slides, creating and presenting one scientific poster and answering to the scientific feedback.The partial achievements are assessed according to the scientific soundness, accessibility for students from different fields and response to peer feedback:- Active participation (peer feedback): 20 points
- Slide design: 20 points
- Slide presentation: 20 points (10 points scientific talk, 10 points answering to scientific feedback)
- Poster design: 20 points
- Poster presentation: 20 pointsThe grading will follow the scheme:
- 1 (excellent) 100 – 90 points
- 2 (good) 89-81 points
- 3 (satisfactory) 80 – 71 points
- 4 (sufficient) 70 – 61 points
- 5 (insufficient) 60 – 0 points
- Slide design: 20 points
- Slide presentation: 20 points (10 points scientific talk, 10 points answering to scientific feedback)
- Poster design: 20 points

This course is open to students from theoretical, computational or experimental physics or chemistry with a research interest in hybrid materials and to both PhD and MSc students. Where possible students are encouraged to present their own research projects. The language of communication is English.
