Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

We will review local quantum field theories and report on the status and methods of constructions.
Next we will introduce differential caluli and define Fuzzy spaces and models over them.
We introduce ideas of noncommutative geometry, modules and the spectral action principle.
Renormalization and the question of renormalizability select particular models.
We introduce the renormalization group and the beta function.
We review approches to quantize gravity and show how one may include gravity effects into quantum field theories.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Verbal examen

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The unification of quantum field theory models and gravity is still not done, we like to show why there are serious problems and indicate the various directions which have been pushed forward recently.

Prüfungsstoff

Differential geometry has been generalized to noncommutative geometry.
For field theories in four space-time dimensions we have to rely on renormalizability, both together lead to noncommutative quantum fields.
