Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course is designed to introduce you to the near-surface geophysical methods and apply these methods to environmental and hydrogeological investigations. The methods covered will include ‘electrical-based’ methods and nuclear magnetic resonance. From the principles of these technologies to current environmental geophysics literature, you will learn about subsurface rock’s physical properties, geophysical properties of soils and rocks, relationships between hydrogeological and geophysical properties, and environmental applications (e.g., groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and microbe-mineral interactions) of geophysical methods. This course combines lectures, literature review and discussion, field/laboratory experiments (if possible), and student presentations.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
This is a graduate class and will require significant self-motivation and independent study in preparation for the weekly meetings. Students will be assessed based on class participation, assignments, exam, and presentation.
