Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course provides an overview of the current discourse on urban sustainability transformations to enable the students to critically reflect on such from various perspectives. Current political frameworks, conceptual scientific approaches, and practical examples from around the world are presented, researched by the students and discussed jointly.The aim of this course is to describe and critically evaluate the specific challenges of selected cities with regards to urban sustainability transformations, by looking at existing research, and planning and development approaches. Reflection and analysis will take place in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (targets and indicators). Based on the selected case cities, students will critically assess the degree to which current urban processes support and/or hinder urban sustainability transformations.

The course includes conceptual and analytical elements to be worked on.
