The course will be held in a mixed form:
(i) Introductory Lectures: will be done in digitial form (12-14 October at 9 -10 am). A link will be sent to all registered students (the lectures will be recorded).
(ii) Overview over the practical work and special group work: meeting in digital form on Thursday 15 October, at 9-10 am (mandatory).
(iii) Soil sampling and sieving in the field will be done on Friday 16 October (whole day)
(iv) Laboratory work: 19-23 October (whole days) in the labs of the Division of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Reserach in small groups!
(v) Statistical lecture and final presentation: in digital form after the lab work (date will be fixed during the lab week).
Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Research in biogeochemistry and ecosystem ecology requires the quantitative estimation of gross and net fluxes as well as of ecosystem pools at various scales. We will demonstrate a range of techniques, from classical analytical chemistry, to advanced chromatographic and isotopic techniques, and allow students to get hands-on training on state-of-the-art equipment.
