Prüfungsimmanente Lehrveranstaltung

Collection Sciences and Research is becoming popular in todays museal - scientific discourse. The agenda of this course will focus on various fields related to the overall theme.
The course will not only give a theoretical background on Compilation, Conservation and Storage of Scientific Specimens but will also focus on areas like the science-historical aspect of collections, modern collection management techniques (data management, data search and data storage, big data science - gene bank etc., ancientDNA and conservation biology issues), socio-cultural heritage, exhibitions management and archive management. As grounds for guided student research projects, the University's Zoological Collection harbours a comprehensive basis of objects for scientific analysis and examination.

Prüfungsstoff

General lectures will be given to broadly visualize the importance of Collection Sciences and the related topics. Project work is not in a single time block, and student's work schedule during the semester can be flexible. We aim to foster the capability of our participants to develop a broader understanding of modern infrastructure based research and elaborate scientific projects.
