Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The goal of this course is to give a useful overview of paleogenomics aimed for students in Anthropology and Archaeology. I will start the course with an introduction to genetics and genomics in order to allow students to better grasp later concepts. I will then move forward with basic topics in paleogenomics including a history of this new field before delving into the current work and directions that are possible.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

I will require active participation in the course including a journal club, a project paper as well as a practice grant proposal.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

I expect full participation in discussions and projects and will grade based on this.

Prüfungsstoff

I expect students to have a good enough grasp of the paleogenomcs field to be able to think critically about the field.

Literatur

I will be using published articles (both primary and review).
