• Bacterial genes and mutations

• Exchange of genetic information in bacteria
• Bacterial gene cloning vectors
• New methods for recombinant DNA assembly and genome engineering
• Molecular analysis of genes and genomes by Next Generation Sequencing
• Bioinformatics: basic tools
• Bacterial genomes and evolution
• Genetics of secondary metabolite biosynthesis in bacteria
• Gene expression in bacteria and its control
• The lactose operon in Escherichia coli: induction and catabolite repression
• The tryptophan operon in Escherichia coli: repression and attenuation
• Metabolic engineering principles
• Synthetic Biology principles
• Synthetic regulatory circuits in bacteria and their applications

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Oral exam if less than 6 students sign up for the course (English). However, this can be discussed.
