Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Course objectives:
Improving the skills you need to interpret and produce grammatically correct standard English texts
Raising your awareness of stylistic features

Content:
We will review grammar and explore a number of grammatical, syntactic and stylistic features. Students are encouraged to suggest topics. Examples: tenses, affixes, gerunds, infinitives, modal verbs, reported speech, clauses, the passive, tense/aspect, conditionals, inversion, word formation.

Method:
Brief lectures, interactive exercises in class; additional exercises on moodle

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Mid-term test: 40%
End-of-term test: 40%
Written assignments, incl. at least one essay: 20%
