400013 SE Seminar für DissertantInnen: Theorie (2011W)

Das Seminar will einen Rahmen für die Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen Themen und Fragestellungen bieten, die in den letzten Jahren (wieder) verstärkt ins Blickfeld der Soziologie getreten sind. Dabei sollen vier Schwerpunkte herausgegriffen werden: 1. Der Umgang mit nicht-westlichen Denktraditionen und deren Integration in den Kanon soziologischen Wissens. 2. Die Gegenwartsdiagnose von der Beschleunigung der Gesellschaft, besonders in Hinblick auf die aktuell einflussreiche Konzeption Hartmut Rosas. 3. Entwicklungen auf dem Gebiet der Neuen Sozialen Bewegungen, insbesondere in Anbetracht
beschleunigter Kommunikations- und Informationstechnologien. 4. Die
Frage nach dem möglichen Ende politisch-sozialer Utopien. Das Seminar richtet sich an Studierende im Doktoratsstudium, die Kenntnisse soziologischer Theorien und Paradigmen mitbringen und an der gegenstandsorientierten Vertiefung interessiert sind.

The seminar examines issues and problems, that have increasingly come to the fore of sociologists in the last years. We will focus on four major points: 1. Non-western traditions of social thoughts and their integration into the canon of sociological knowledge. 2. Acceleration, in particular relating to the prevailing concept of Hartmut Rosa. 3. Changes within the field of the so called New Social Movements, with special respect to the importance of accelerated information- and communication technologies. 4. Finally, the status of social utopias and relevance for the present discussion. The seminar is addressed to doctoral students with knowledge of sociological theory, who are interested in the application of a sociological point of view on concrete social issues.
