Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

In this interdisciplinary seminar, recent results and ongoing research covering the study of Quantum Entanglement and its application to Complex Quantum Systems are discussed. A special focus will be on Tensor Network methods, which form an entanglement-based description for complex quantum many-body states. Due to its interdisciplinary nature, the seminar covers a broad range of topics, from Quantum Information and Computation all the way to Quantum Many-Body Physics, and encompasses physical as well as mathematical problems and techniques. The seminar is thus suitable for students of Physics and Mathematics alike.

The seminar is organized by the research group "Quantum Information and Quantum Many-Body Physics" at the Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Mathematics (https://schuch.univie.ac.at ). Speakers include group members, external guests, and students registered for the course.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Each participant presents one research paper on a current topic in the seminar, jointly with one other participant. Supervision for studying the paper and preparing the presentation will be provided.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Regular attendance, presentation of one research paper (jointly with another participant) as described above. The grade will be determined by the quality of the presentation (feedback on this will be provided during the preparation).
