Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course requires "Biblical Hebrew 1". Building on the acquired knowledge students will be made familiar with more complex issues of both verbal and nominal grammar. As well, syntax will become a more important component during the duration of the course. Participants will be instructed to translate easy narrative texts of the Hebrew Bible on their own, using a dictionary and the paradigms included in the course book.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam, see below.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course is taught as a combination of the lecture and active participation of the students in class. Additionally, exercises on „Moodle“ are offered. The primary criterion for assessment is the concluding exam at the end of summer term. The first possible date of the exam will be at the end of June 2020. Active participation in exercises will be relevant for the final grade. For further possible exam dates see bibelwissenschaft-ktf.univie.ac.at/studium/pruefungen.
Examination topics
The text of the exam will be around eight to ten verses long which will have to be translated during a period of 180 minutes. A minimum of 5 verses will have to be translated as a minimal requirement for a positive grade. The usage of a dictionary and a grammatical chart is permitted. Three verbal forms have to be analyzed.
