Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course gives an introduction to the basics and to the most important methods of scientific biblical interpretation. Therefore selected passages of the HB/OT & NT will be interpreted by applying exegetical methods, which will be introduced, tested and discussed in the course.

The main goals of the course include the acquirement of critical competence in the handling of exegetical literature and in the application of the basic methods of exegesis; furthermore the self-reliant ability to compare and judge differing exegetical opinions and hermeneutical concepts.

Methods: Lecture resp. introduction of methods by the course leader; application and discussion of varying exegetical methods during the course; reflection and practice of acquired skills at home (homework); self-employed working (singly, in pairs and in groups); Writing a seminar paper; Blended learning via moodle.
