Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This Seminar offers an introduction into Ethics and Law in Medicine followed by a more detailed discussion of ethical and legal questions in medicine regarding the beginning of human life. We are planning to discuss Assisted Reproduction, Problems in Neonatology, Children in Hospital and terminally ill children.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral presentation, contributions to discussions, written elaboration of a special medical ethical or medical legal problem.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students gain basic knowledge of approaches in medical ethics and of the fundaments of medical law in Austria. They can also gain practical knowledge through the discussion of concrete medical ethical problems that will be presented by practicioners.

Examination topics

Lecture, discussion, reading, presentation, excursions.
