In the exam, students have to prove that they know the contents of the mandatory reading. More detailed information will be given in the lecture.

This lecture offers an introduction to the so-called "Wisdom Literature" in the Old Testament with a special focus on the Psalms and the Book of Ecclesiastes (Qohelet) with its reception history. In addition, the books Threni and Baruch will be discussed.Objectives:
At the end of the course, students will have some basic knowledge of the Psalms and the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom of Solomon, Ben Sira, Threni and Baruch. They will also have an in-depth understanding of selected texts. They will be able to name the main points of the theological thinking which prevails in wisdom literature and to interpret biblical texts in this context.Method:
The lecture will include some interactive elements and allow time for students' questions and discussions. Students are expected to read all of the biblical books which will be discussed in the lecture.
