Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
After a general introduction to current approaches to “intercultural philosophy”, this lecture provides an overview of the diverse traditions of thought in Latin America: the “philosophy” of Amerindian cultures, the history of European philosophy in southern America; indigenous traditions of thought since the colonial period. Since the 19th century, the current of a “filosofía americana” has also constituted itself, which found creative continuations in the 20th century in the “philosophies of liberation” and post- and decolonial approaches. The traditions of thought in Latin America are objectively close to other post-colonial philosophies of the Global South. Against this background, Latin American philosophy since the 19th century will also be examined in the context of the global discourse on modernity.Method: Lecture / presentation with opportunity for discussion.
