Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The definition of illness alnd healthiness have to be renewed. New knowledges about genetics and epigenetics are very important. Ethical problems will be discussed: IVF, prenatal diagnosis, pre genetic diagnosis, embryonic stem cell research, human-animal-mixtures, brain death, organ transplantation, persistent vegetative state, euthanasia.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presentation of paper, reading, active participation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

We will look for the state of the art of the scientific and medical knowledges about illness an healthiness and the new technologies in the mentioned fields. Than we discuss the ethical problems and learn different forms of ethical argumentations.

Examination topics

Reading, discussion, presentation of papers.
