Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is a continuation of the basic course in Biblical Hebrew. Its main goal is to offer a continouus reading class in which guided reading and translation of Hebrew biblical texts are provided. The texts themselves vary from term to term and do not repeat in a cycle. While translating, supplementary information about advanced matters of Biblical Hebrew grammar will be provided. A sound command of Biblical Hebrew is required in order to register for this class and participate in it.

Assessment and permitted materials

The character of the course requires continued active participation, preparation of texts and grading but no final exam. Every week about ten verses of a Hebrew text will need to be prepared for discussion in class.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Translation and analysis of easy as well as more complex texts of the Hebrew Bible.

Examination topics

Guided reading of Biblical Hebrew texts of various literary genres and difficulty, weekly preparation of classes using the regular tools (dicitonaries, grammar etc.).
