Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course “History of the Roman Catholic Inquisition(s) and Related Institutions” consists in twelve lectures exploring the history of the Roman Catholic Inquisition. After an introductory part on the inquisition during the Middle Ages, the course will focus on the establishment of the Congregation of the Roman and Universal Inquisition and the Congregation of the Index of Forbidden Books in the fifteenth century until the creation of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the twentieth century.
