Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course introduces to new challenges which different state institutions, religious communities and academic research face because of recent immigration. After a general introduction on the immigration to German speaking countries the focus will be on the developments in Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities. Then we will focus on hospitals, nursery homes, schools, jails and the army to study how state institutions and the religious communities face the growing diversity in these state institutions.
Assessment and permitted materials
Frequent participation in the course, presentation of at least one paper in the seminar or elaborated protocol of a meeting.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Overview on new challegenges for state institutions, religious communities and academic research in Europe.
Examination topics
Presentations, participation in a panel discussion, discussion with persons dealing with immigrants in state institutions or religious communities.
