This course offers a practical, cross-disciplinary introduction to the legal, economic, technical and artistic requirements for the development of digital collections (esp. NFT). It is organised jointly with the University of Arts Linz, the TU Wien, the WU Vienna and the Austrian Post. The aim is also to jointly develop a marketable product that Austrian Post could offer.

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course offers a practical, cross-disciplinary introduction to the legal, economic, technical and artistic requirements for the development of digital collections (esp. NFT). It is organised jointly with the University of Arts Linz, the TU Wien, the WU Vienna and the Austrian Post. The aim is also to jointly develop a marketable product that Austrian Post could offer.The aim is for students from these universities to work in teams with practitioners to gain an insight into the new technologies of digital collection and, as an exercise in several teams, to develop a marketable product that Austrian Post could offer.

Assessment and permitted materials

This course will be held in German and requires students to participate in the teamwork both at the announced dates and outside the dates in order to reach a joint performance result. 12 law students will be given the opportunity to participate and bring the legal aspects (esp. copyright, data protection and civil law) into the teams.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Personal participation in the sessions and in the group work. A written presentation of the legal requirements for the digital collection project developed is expected (this can also be in the form of a comprehensive checklist).

Examination topics

Basic knowledge of copyright, data protection and civil law aspects of digital collecting.
