Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at providing a general but comprehensive of the international legal framework that applies to nuclear energy industry and technology. In particular it will address the following topics:

• Nuclear Regulatory Regimes: International organizations and national regulators
• Legislative Framework for Nuclear Safety
• Radioactive Waste and Spent Fuel: Environmental Issues
• Nuclear Liability and Compensation for Nuclear Damage
• Legal Aspects of Nuclear Nonproliferation
• Exports and Imports Controls
• Legal Aspects of the IAEA Safeguards Agreements
• Illicit Nuclear Trafficking and Nuclear Terrorism
• Legal Framework on Nuclear Security
• Transportation of Radioactive Materials
