Aims, contents and method of the course

The compulsory practical exercise is part of the "introductory and orientation period" (STEOP) and also a preparation for the oral exam in legal and constitutional history. Due to the CoVID pandemic, it will only be held via the Internet.
It has to be highlighted that only 50 % of the test material can be disucssed within the exercise (especially the parts in constitutional history), the rest has to be learned in a different way (f.e. in a pracitcal exercise in history of civil law).

Assessment and permitted materials

Several multiple choice tests and a test with open questions will be held. In addition, the students have to elaborate some source exegesis independent.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Up to 420 points can be earned in the tests and homework. Anyone who has earned at least 210 points is positive (sufficient). Satifactory: at least 260 points; well: 310 points; very well: 360 points.

On moodle you can see, which chapter have to be prepared for each unit.

Reading list

Students are free to choose which textbook to prepare for the units. Recommended are alternatively:
- Thomas Olechowski, Rechtsgeschichte. Einführung in die historischen Grundlagen des Rechts, 4th/5th edition, Vienna 2016/2019, or
- Österreichische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Rechtsgeschichte, Manual "Rechts- und Verfassungsgeschichte", 4th/5th edition, Vienna 2016/2018
