Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will cover the CFR-project and European contract law principles formulated by academic working groups (e.g. Lando Commission, Study Group, Acquis Group, Gandolfi Group) as well as their respective backgrounds in existing EC law and the contract law regimes of the European countries (with a particular focus on English, French, German and Dutch law).
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Participants should be provided with basic comparative knowledge of national contract laws in Europe and of existing EC law in the field. Against this background, they should obtain detailed insights into the ongoing evolution of a genuine European Contract Law. Participants should thereby be put in the position to understand and contribute to the debate over what is arguably the most exciting current development in the field of civil law.
Examination topics
The main didactical tools implemented will be lecturing, discussions in class, group work, short presentations and private study. Participants will not be obliged to speak English themselves and may choose to respon in German if they prefer to do so.
