Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the course is the preparation of a student team of the University of Vienna for participation in the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court 2017. The topics of this international competition are public international law and space law.

The finals are traditionally organised at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which will take place in Bremen, Germany, next year. Three acting judges of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will be in the jury.

Regional pre-selections take place in four world regions: Europe, North Amerika, Africa and Asia. The European Rounds are organised by the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL). They will be held in a location that will be disclosed in October (in April/May 2017).

During the winter semester, the written memorials of claimant and respondent will be prepared. The summer semester will be dedicated to the preparation and training of the oral pleadings. The language of the competition and the language of instruction of the course is English.
