Aims, contents and method of the course
Basic concepts and approaches to international security (collective defense, collective security, cooperative security, neutrality, etc.); the present security situation at the global and regional European levels: good and bad news
Assessment and permitted materials
participation in discussions in class and final written exam
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
provide students with a better understanding of the legal and political dimensions of contemporary security issues and a theoretical background enabling them to assess problems of security policy on their own in the future
Examination topics
presentations by the instructor, discussion in class, discussion meetings with American students at the Institute of European Studies in Vienna
