Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aim: Proper understanding of American antitrust law.
Content: Study of four principal areas of antitrust law (horizontal and vertical problems, M & A, single firm conduct), securities laws and securities litigation.
Method: Case law approach.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance of the class as well as oral participation and homework or final exam. The assessment is based on the course topics.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Rudimentary economic understanding (e.g., a basic grasp of the Law of Supply and Demand) is helpful, but our discussion will largely be confined to law rather than to economics. As a result, no special expertise in business, commerce, or economic theory is required. The same applies to business or corporate experience.
