Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course covers the following areas: monetary policy in the presence of nominal or real rigidities, frictional labor markets and market power, misallocation and productivity growth, consumption and investment under uncertainty, finance and macroeconomics, aggregate effects of international economic relations. The course’s goal is to equip students with the tools needed to do independent research in macro and related fields.
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be a mid-term and a final exam, covering the material discussed in the first and second half of the semester, respectively. Each of them accounts for 50% of the grade. The mid-term exam will take place on 2.5.2022. The final exam will take place on 28.6.2022. Students who take the mid-term exam of 2.5.2022 will be given the possibility of a make-up exam on 10.06.2022. Students who take the final exam of 28.6.2022 will be given the possibility of a make-up exam on 9.9.2022.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students need to obtain at least an average of 50% to pass this course. 50% - 60% implies a 4; 60% - 70% a 3; 70% - 85% a 2; 85% or above a 1.
Examination topics
Monetary policy under nominal or real rigidities, frictional labor markets and market power, mis-allocation and productivity growth, consumption and investment under uncertainty, macro-finance link, macroeconomic implications of international economic relations.
