Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The Conversatorium provides an opportunity to fulfill the curricular requirement of a public presentation of the thesis.
Hence, it serves as a forum to discuss the thesis at an advanced stage and, ideally, to benefit from the feedback of peers.
Feedback, of course, requires and active feedback culture by the peers, even when the thesis topic is somewhat distant from their own topics.

Supervisors are encouraged to attend the presentations of their supervisees. This course does NOT substitute for supervision!

Supervisors have to attest that at least 2/3 of the thesis are completed at the stage of presentation

Assessment and permitted materials

quality of manuscript: 30%
presentation: 40%
active discussion: 30%

Allowed auxiliary means: None

Attendance: Regular attendance required at all meetings.
The schedule of presentations will be arranged in the first meeting at Oct. 6. Failure to attend my imply the loss of an opportunity to present.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Examination topics

The course addresses advanced students at the end of their master program. At that stage methods and techniques of public presentation of one's work should have been acquired already in earlier stages and by help of the supervisor. Students will learn to present in a way that maximizes feedback to their own benefit.
